Work For Hire

We do a lot of work for hire for clients. This work is the way we make our living, and – most of the time – it’s fun work too. A lot of the projects that we have been doing for the last 18 months have been work for hire for LEGO. Great client, great projects and great products.

The money we make from work for hire goes to paying salaries, rent and expenses. What is left, is put into developing our own projects…

Publisher Talks

Back in January 2011 we received a phone call from a publisher who was interested in putting Chase Ace – Off-World Leagues on the market. We were excited because it was basically the one publisher we would want to make a deal with.

We received initial an offer from them that we could not accept, and negotiations then basically continued – very slowly – up until last week, where it was finally concluded that we would not be able to make the game together.

Now we have to find a new way of getting the game off the ground. We wont be approaching any other publishers with the project. Instead we will find a way of doing it ourselves.

Even though it might take forever.

More updates on Ace as soon as we have them

I’m still working hard on Peyote, and it’s progressing nicely.
A bunch of very interesting stuff is in the pipeline, and we are by no means just sitting on our hands.

We absolutely will post news as soon as we can and have something to share.

Behold, Peyote has a logo. Peyote is, as you may recall, the name of our new tech. Brian is working hard to push it forward, while we’re waiting for people with money and power to decide…

We hope to be able to share more news with you guys within a month or two.

We’re now on the other side of a huge mountain of stuff that has taken a lot of time and energy (which explains the radio silence), and we’re moving forward with Chase Ace related stuff now.

I’ve hit the ground running with our huge tech push, and I’m working full time on Peyote.
There’s some stuff that needs to be implemented to make it a viable alternative, and I’m making that these days and for the next months.

When I have something that looks like something, I’ll post news.

We’re working like crazy to get ready to pitch the game to publishers at GDC from February 28. We’re flying out to San Fransisco next Friday and until then we’re running around like crazies, booking meetings, preparing powerpoints, recording gameplay videos, preparing printed presentation booklets and stuff, while we’re completing two really cool Flash games for a client.

We also recently went to Hamburg for a few days to participate in the Casual Connect Conference. Here we met with a lot of nice people, heard a few great talks and drank a few cold ones. It lead to a couple of good contacts on exiting future stuff.

So, in short, all is well and we have high hopes for this year!

Anyway, back to work!

Right now we’re gearing up for 2 conferences in February, and it’s a lot of work.
First, we have 2 casual game concepts we are pitching to publishers at Casual Connect in Hamburg, in the beginning of February.
Second, we are taking Chase Ace to GDC to pitch it to publishers at the end of February.

As you might know, we are doing most of our game development by funding it with work for hire. This is a slow process.
If we can get funding on terms we like, our pace will pick up considerably.

We hope to get back to you with good news within the next few months.
