Summary
Chase Ace Deluxe is a fast paced single or multi player action shooter game. You control a spaceship, and the objective is to shoot down your enemy, be that the guy next to you or the AI enemies. Chase Ace Deluxe features explosive special effects in a stylised scrolling 2D environment.

Customise
Chase Ace Deluxe can be customised in many ways - for instance you can change the amount of bullets each player can have, the maximum shield amount, ship maximum speed and even the overall speed of the entire game. If you prefer certain power ups above others, you just switch off the ones you don’t want.

Level Editor
The Chase Ace Level Editor enables you to create your own advanced levels. You can set up your level exactly the way you want to. You can include advanced trigger logic that activates different doors, you can create traps triggered by invisible switches and much more…

Power Ups
Chase Ace Deluxe features 35(!) different power ups. Different power ups can be combined into spectacular weapons; Tripple Shots + Mortars + Enemy Seek + Hi Speed Shots = you guess what…

Enemies
Fight AI enemies ranging from dumber than brick cannon fodder to smart aggressive swarms of insect-like metal destruction bringers.

The Arena
The arena consists of a large number of different elements. All of these elements can be placed anywhere on the arena and tied together using the trigger features of the Chase Ace Deluxe Level Editor.

Obstacles
The arena is made from obstacles of different kinds. An obstacle is a wall, which is either indestructible or destructible. Obstacles can be skewed in different angles.

Re-fuel / Re-shield
When you get hit, your shield goes down, so you have to go to re-shield - this can be dangerous if your enemy is waiting for you at re-shielding zone. Also you have to refuel your ammo stock along the way.

Safe zones
In the safe zones you can take a rest from the action. While you are in a safe zone, you can’t get shot, but can’t shoot either.

Black Holes
Black Holes are not an immediate threat. They pull your spaceship towards them, but they don’t kill you. You bullets get attracted by the holes, which makes it difficult to aim. When you are at the centre of the black hole, your bullets cannot reach the outer perimeter of the hole.

Gravitational Fields
Gravitational fields are invisible and pull your ship in a predefined direction. Like Black Holes they’re not an immediate threat.

One-way Zones
You can only move in the arrow’s direction in one-way zones. They can form traps from which you cannot escape, and your opponent can blast you to pieces.

Acid
Acid eats your shield! Bounce your opponent onto them and watch him fry!

Holes
The shortcut into deep space. Stay clear of them.

Bombs
Don’t get too close, or they will detonate! - Spawns at random positions on the level during the game. Detonates if shot setting of major chain reactions.

Worm Holes
Worm Holes are transports that in warp speed send your spaceship to another part of the arena. Worm Holes can be both visible and hidden.

Doors
Different parts of the arena can be sealed by doors that can behave in different manners. Doors can be time or trigger activated, or they can open and close on interval. Don’t get caught in them!!

Pistons
Pistons move back and forth in their track. You can use them as lifts to other parts of the arena, or as traps, triggered by different events. Don’t get squished in them!!

Triggers
Triggers are elements that trigger other elements or events. They can be obstacle-like so you’ll have to shoot them, or be a part of the floor, so you activate them as you pass them. Triggers can be both visible and hidden.

Gun Turrets
Different kinds of gun turrets can pop up everywhere, or in places you define. They have different firepower and aiming capabilities.

Boxes
Small boxes will randomly appear on the arena. When shot to pieces, some of them may contain valuable power ups.

History

Chase Ace Deluxe - formerly known as Chase Ace 2 - is an independent spare time production developed by Space Time Foam back in 1998. The game was awarded the “Best Sound Award” at Independent Game Developers Festival in San Fransisco in 2001. Even though it’s pretty old it’s still pretty cool.

The game was developed for CD-ROM release and sold online only from this domain up until the domain was lost to domain hijackers. Since then, the game has not been available to the public in any legal way.

Chase Ace 2 was the sequel to Chase Ace released as shareware in 1998. The basic concepts of the game remain unchanged. If it ain’t broken, why fix it?

Modern Times

Over the Summer of 2007 we found that our game still had appeal and something really unique to offer - In other words; we still find it absolutely hilarious to play. Thus we decided to make an effort to get the game on the market again. This time as a digital download only…
